Nestled in the lush Santa Marta mountains, Puerto Alto is a gem that completely stole my heart. I initially planned a two-night stay but found myself seduced by the mesmerizing ocean breeze and incredible views for two whole weeks. The climb to this paradise is no small feat-it's a solid workout-but trust me, the plunge into the crystal-clear pool overlooking the ocean is pure bliss. The accommodations are simple yet charming; my private room boasted a stunning view, and I especially appreciated the cozy company of a friendly cat during my stay. The staff were always eager to help, making me feel right at home, while the restaurant's American breakfast was a delightful way to start my morning-though I should mention that the meals can be a tad pricey for a budget traveler like me. Puerto Alto's vibrant atmosphere comes alive at night, with a shared lounge that's perfect for unwinding after an adventurous day exploring Tayrona National Park and the nearby hippy town of Palomino. And let's not forget the essential grocery shopping service that ensures you're well-stocked for those evenings by the pool! If you're looking for a beautiful budget-friendly balance of nature, community, and comfort, Puerto Alto is where it's at. Trust me, you'll want to savor every moment!
